Edler-Geist is a brokerage and advisory firm in Germany, working across investment real estate, residential real estate, and the full range of German insurance products, and always expanding what we cover. We work with clients who are building real financial positions and want advice that treats the parts as one situation rather than a series of separate transactions.
Most advice in Germany is bought one piece at a time. A mortgage advisor won't look at how you're protected. An insurance broker won't tell you whether the apartment you're about to buy makes sense as an investment. Each sector sits with its own specialist, and the connections between them go unmanaged, which is exactly where good decisions quietly turn into expensive ones. We were built to work the other way: across real estate and insurance together, so the advice on one never undercuts the other.
The decisions are connected in practice. A property's structure changes which coverage you actually need. The right income protection changes what you can responsibly borrow. A clear sense of your longer-term goals changes which financing fits. Pull these apart and you optimize each in isolation; hold them together and they start working as a plan.
Our own focus is investment real estate, where we work most deeply. For residential property meant to live in, we bring in a trusted partner network, so that side of a decision is handled by people who do it daily while we keep the whole picture in view.
We also operate fully in German and English, including English-language mortgage brokerage through German banks. Advising international clients is simply harder, two countries' worth of rules, expectations, and paperwork on every case, and a firm built to handle that added dimension handles the domestic case comfortably. For international clients, it takes the language barrier out of decisions that should never be made through a translation app. For German clients, it means an advisor who works across the whole picture, in plain German, with a broader set of lenders and partners on the table.

Kate Edler
Founder
Kate Edler is founder of Edler-Geist and the analytical half of the partnership. American, with a B.A. in quantitative economics from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, they spent their career in the financial-technology sector before helping build the firm, working in investment-performance analysis and client consulting.
Their background is the numbers underneath the advice. Calculating and verifying portfolio performance, reconciling returns across custodians and managers, building the reporting that institutional clients rely on, and translating dense analytical output into something a client can actually use to decide. It is rigorous, detail-bound work, and it is the discipline that keeps Edler-Geist's advice grounded in figures rather than instinct.
That's the shape of the partnership. Deep German market and brokerage experience on one side, quantitative and analytical training on the other. One half knows how the German system works from the inside; the other knows how to measure whether a decision actually holds up. Most advice you receive is strong on one and thin on the other. Edler-Geist was built to be both.
Alex Geist
Founder & Managing Director
Alex Geist is the founder and managing director of Edler-Geist. They are a German native, fully bilingual in German and English, and an IHK-certified broker, double-licensed in real estate and insurance, with the firm's competences always expanding.
Their career was built where advice is hardest: serving international clients navigating a German financial system that was never designed to be explained to them. Working across the expat and international-services world means handling an added dimension of complexity on every case, mismatched expectations between two countries, cross-border circumstances, and decisions that have to make sense to someone who didn't grow up inside the system. Advising German clients in Germany is the same work with one less variable.
That's the logic behind the firm. An advisor who can hold the international case together can handle the domestic one comfortably, and an advisor licensed across both real estate and insurance can see how the pieces connect, which is where the real value sits. A property decision, the financing behind it, and the coverage that protects it are one situation, not three. Alex built the practice to treat them that way, so the advice on one never quietly works against another.
